Trying to open the bonnet today resulted in the red lever snapping clean off. Are they easy to replace? i saw to screws holding the rest of the lever on so is it a matter of buying a new one and then just screwing it on?

Yeah, pretty straightforward as I remember when I had problem with the bonnet catch on my 156, I was able to remove the red pull lever and yank on the cable with a pair of pliers.

The cable has a crimp in the end, bit like a pushbike brake cable, this locates in the red lever. As i remember it was a bit fiddly getting it back together but you'll get there in the end. Not sure if the lever is available as a spare on its own from a dealer, if it comes with the cable it might work out a bit more expensive, can't see it costing the earth though.

All the best
