Hi,

I'm a recently happy owner of a 159 jtdm. Love the car in every way apart from problems with media player connectivity with Blue & Me. I've trawled this forum and can't find an answer to my issue.

I plug a usb stick into the socket, loaded with music. then put the key in and turn on the engine. sometimes the head unit will display MP3 and sometimes AUX IN. When MP3 is displayed I can use the system fine, no problems. However when AUX IN is displayed I can't skip tracks or enter the mp3 menu.

Sometimes on turning on the engine MP3 will be displayed but will revert to AUX IN after a couple of minutes. Then you have to pull over and restart the car to get MP3 back!

I've also noticed that the odometer starts flashing sometimes and I think this is linked to my issues with Blue & Me as it seems to flash usually when MP3 won't connect.

I've tried installing the version 5.5 update but keep getting the USB 10 error message despite trying with different (otherwise emtpy) sticks, and after disconnecting the battery for 10 seconds.

Any ideas would be gratefully received,

Cheers
Chris

The flashing odometer is flagging a CANBus failure.

As you've guessed it is probably due to your B&M system.

(Also the headunit sometimes reverting to AUX instead of MEDIA
points to the B&M.)

Could be just a dodgy power connection.
The B&M is behind/underneath the headunit.

Thanks Nev,
Is it worth pulling out the head unit and having a look, i.e. is it likely to be obvious where the dodgy connection is? I'm assuming from other cars that you need specific tools to pull the head unit out and have a look.

Cheers

Yeah I definitely pull the HU and have a poke around.

You need the Blaupunkt tools or two U-shaped bits of
bent wire coathanger.

You'll see the B&M sitting under the HU behind the bottom half of
the fascia. (The HU is single DIN with a double DIN fascia.)

Good luck.
