we need to buy a spare and quickly especially with the amount of keys she's lost in the past

Don't fancy paying Alfa £250 though

If I were to but a fob on eBay is it possible to get them re coded etc? We had our Fiat coupe key cut and programmer by a normal key shop but I'm not sure if they can do the Alfa fobs

I bought a second hand remote fob off Ebay and had a new blade cut, took it to stealers to get coded in (pleaded ignorant and just said it didn't work!) and told needed a new one for a cost of £204...ouch, not believing them went to independent Alfa specialist and he said could make locking part work but would never start car as chip inside is programmed at factory,,,,suppose key will do as a spare if remote locking bit goes, but will have to swop chip to make start car......A bit miffed after all that!

If you are buying ebay keys you need to make sure that the new key is using the same code system as your existing ones (which is probably why Longprests key didn't work). The 156 has used three different systems over the years (as far as a i know).

Mine is the two button flip out key type, some key blades have 2 on and some a 3, presume this indicates the system they use - both mine have a three on and still no go!
