As a fan of Top Gear, I've always been envious when they disappear off to far flung lands to find the ultimate driving road, but...

for those of us on a more modest budget, what do you consider the best strip of tarmac in the UK or Eire?

My nomination...I don't remember the name, but I once drove from Edinburgh to Balmoral through some of the greatest scenery and superbly twisting roads I've ever seen. Unfortunately it was in a truck, not an Alfa.

The Healys pass in Ireland and the Corkscrew in Co Clare are two very good roads.
