It sounds more like a TS or JTS inlet cam variator that is faulty (needs to be changed). But you GT is a JTD. It may be a normal sound for a cold upstart of a diesel engine.

Yes normal. Spring loaded tensioner, pointy bit is tension indicator, tension varies slightly when running so pointer jigs about.

A common cause of wild shaking is the one-way clutch in the alternator pulley seizing. But it would be much worse than what you have here, which is normal and why the tensioner is sprung.
