Someone just hit me in the rear on a roundabout whilst in traffic. Nothing major but they've scuffed the bumper and given the exhaust a bash - it's now blowing. I reckon about £150-£200 to fix which is below my excess. I have legal cover and spoke to my broker. They suggested to contact the legal cover direct. However the legal cover company will not act on my behalf without an instruction from my main insurer - AXA. I'm worried reporting it will put my premium up by more than the repair cost. Is there anyway I can make a direct claim without involving AXA? If not I will not bother and just pay it out of my pocket (might even leave the bumper as is). I don't go much on the legal cover. Think I will drop that at my next renewal.

Small claims court against the other driver - I doubt he or she would want a claim made against their insurance for such a small amount? you shouldn't have to claim on your own policy!
