Hi ,it originasly occured in a trafic jam,and he was able to rev it up and crawl home, since then, it will only start up and then stop as i said even if you continue to turn the engine over,I called RAC home start, the guy was nice enough, he used his diagnostic analiser, but for some reason Mito would not let him in,we went through all the fuel system and we decided it must be the injection pump pressure regulater, as he claimed on the new common rail diesels, the presure from the pump is very high and when we opend the feed pipe nut, all we got was the sort of tricle of fuel you get from the old type injection pumps, so muggins here contacted the nearest dealer and paid £200.00+ quid for a new pump pressure senser, guess what?, yep it made no difference what ever, My opinion of RAC is not what it was, I am reading about this crank senser now, but I do not wish to waste any more money untill I know for shore it is going to do the Job, why would a crank senser allow it to start and then stop? I need real answeres please some one.Is the car coughing when it is moving or just a complete lack of power and cutting out? Warning lights on the dash?
I know that the diesel engines were updated for the Giulietta and Mito but I've seen a thread where users have described an issue with similar symptoms, which turned out to be a faulty crank sensor.

This may not be the case but it is worth looking at. I hope he gets it sorted.
