My 159 has just gone out of warranty. In the last 3 months the electrics have shut down completely on 2 occaisions. Initially, I was told I needed a new battery. I had a new one put in in Jaunary but exactly the same thing has happened. It appears to be more than just a question of the battery not holding the charge. Any one else had a similar experience?

Battery went after ~2 years but it was replaced
so no issues since.

Have they checked the alternator?

It's more likley that somethings draining it's power. I had a battery change after just one week and that also went flat. Turned out to be a stuck boot release solenoid. You need to get someone to check how much current is flowing out of the battery when the cars just standing idle. My guess is that it should be well less that a tenth of an amp but any more than that would indicate the problem lies elswhere.

I had a bad earth in a 3 year old 166 that was causing havoc with the electrics and draining battery. Was an intermittent issue also so even harder to pin down!
