Not content with fleecing me of most of my spare money recently my car dropped another "classic" this morning:
Just turning in to the car park and the alternator/power steering drive belt shredded, thus becoming a fast moving flail. Sounds like a supersonic cat-o-ninetails under there.

Same here! Knew it wasn't that because there was no sound of valves bouncing off piston heads!Last time I heard a noise like that, it was the cambelt!
