Who knows about balljoints? There is a balljoint on each side of the car which connects the tip of the wishbone to the vertical link / hub and on my car both of these have rubber boots which are split. From what I can see the balljoints are part and parcel of the wishbones - does this mean I need to replace the whole wishbone just to rectify this problem?! Surely not....

They are part of the wishbone as you say. I don't know if the rubber are available seprately otherwise it will be a full change :(

How long have the wishbones been on the car? If the rubbers have been on long enough to perish and split I guess the wishbones could be ready for renewing as well. I read somewhere that it is possible to replace the balljoints but it is a specialist job and means taking the wishbones off anyway. Not if the rubbers are available separate. The wishbones cost about £50 to £60 a side.

It wasn't long ago that i had one side of mine done, If you hear a sort of knocking noise, then yes, the ball joints need replacing. as for the split rubber boots, never looked at mine so i couldn't tell you. And unless you have somewhere you can work on the car and sort of know what your doing, i surgest you take it to a garage, not whimping out or anything but its just easyier and quicker, the cost aint to bad either got the one side done for about £100 including labour.

Its always worth emailing [email protected] to see if they can help. Some items don't look very exciting and don't get their piccies on the forum but they are there all the same ;)

But they definately do wishbones :D
