Im looking to replace my front ball joints due to excessive play, i can get both ball joints for around £30 and the jobs looks fairly simple - grind 3 rivet heads off, knock out and replace with the new ones which come with nut and bolt fixings.

Is there anything i should be careful of/know about as ive never attempted anything like this myself?

TIA

I would replace the whole bottom arms.

It will be easier, and the bushes in the lower arms are likely to be worn anyway.

I agree with symon, if the ball joint is worn, so is everything else attached to it.

Guide on Alfa Workshop for this here. Been looking idly at doing it myself as well, depends on MOT result as I had an advisory last year about the rear bushes starting to wear.

Part is much cheaper on shop4parts BTW.

Changing the arms themselves isn't too hard following that guide. The hardest part is removing both undertrays and the crash beams which run from the front of the subframe to underneath the bumper.

The front bolts have very resticted access.

One the crash beams are out the wishbones are very easy.
