Thought i'd got myself a bargain, air mass meter from e-bay £35, car ran fine for a week then idle speed got really erratic and car refused to start on a couple of occasions. Anyway just had it back to local Alfa specialist and, guess what, the air mass meter is faulty! so they're fitting one at cost of £140. Wonder if i'll get my £35 back.

Did it state it was in a working condition in the e bay description? If not, you could well be stuck with it. Contact the seller and see what they say - could be a genuine mistake!

You should get your money back if it is not as described.

best bet for MAF's is Alt Autos - 90 quid delivered....save you a load of heartache that's inevitable with those cheap crap chinese copies on ebay...

I have a MAF that cost me £40+vat from my local factors. It's a 'geniune UK made component'. That's what it says on the box anyway!! I'll be selling it because it was my Lambda that was at fault!! Or I could just sell the original Bosch item......?

I've taken my MAF back to the Motor Factors and got a refund.
What do the Portland ones look like? What writing do they have on them?
Mine has 'SMP Europe' on it.

Its obviously a copy then and not an original. Not to say the original ones are brilliant anyway....

The factors I bought the MAF off have sent it back to be tested but as I now know there was nothing wrong with the original (and the replacement part), I'm expecting them to tell me to get stuffed! At least if they send it back, I can sell it and get my money back that way! Anyone want a good working MAF for £50 incl UK postage???
