I'm getting a loud backfire from my Spider when on the overrun. Just like a loud gunshot. I am aware that leaks in the exhaust can cause this, but the system is new and I cannot find any leaks. I am experiencing a bit of rough running when on part throttle at low engine speeds - almost as if it isn't quite on all four cylinders, and I'm wondering if I have a fault in the fuel system such as a leaky injector or something.

Anyone out there suffered similar symptoms? The car has always done it since I've owned it, and I did have to rebuild the top end because of an exhaust valve seat coming loose. I'm just worried in case there is a connection.......

The car is a 1989 S3 model, fitted with Bosch L-Jetronic injection, and is a US import
