I think this problems been covered before and its a problem with the Tachmoeter \ Rev counter, sounds unusual yes but the ECU does weird things when reading invalid values from a faulty piece of equipment.
Mine did the same when i unplugged the rev counter.
Check out previous posts or I'm sure someone with more knowledge on this problem will help.
Revcounter is a common cause.
But also check all the earth points in the boot. If you get a faulty earth you get very strange backfeeding going on which can result in lights being on when they shouldn't be.
