Dear all,
Has anyone had a rattle by the drivers side B pillar, Its driving me mad. Its been back to Guest's to get it sorted but it was back within a couple of days.
I have lubbed the doors, door seals, stuck the belt buckle "Bounce pad" (on door piller) back on, but it still rattles.
Any ideas

tell us what happens I have the same thing happening. Have a service coming up, also might pop into guests solihull to get mine done as I am not a big fan of the dealers near me. Suspect mine is the window as when I have the window open a little it disappears.

No they didn't just re-adjusted the seals. If you press the window the rattle stops. It seems a pressure issue on the seals

Mine has the same, according to the Alfa tech the Punto has it as well, his cure is to slighty force the seal out so it takes up the gap between the window and seal, going in for a fix, I hope

TSI is a swear word in my book ;)

Are there any dealers near you? I guess you mean Whitequay & SGT - not really near enough to appeal to more than the most enthusiastic Oxford-based Alfa fan. It's no wonder i see 1 Alfa to every 15 Audi's round here - we don't even figure on the Alfa UK map from what i can tell. Wish they'd sort it. I'd run one myself if Alfa came up with the initial funding help. :(

It must be so annoying that they don't just spend time actually trying to fix something, rather than just having a half-arsed stab-in-the-dark at it. Surely if it stops rattling when pressed then identifying a fix shouldn't be TOO hard for a dealer. A rattle would irritate me just as much as a major breakdown but dealerships don't seem to think of it that way unfortunately.

Indeed Whitequay haven't been awful, just don't like their slightly sullen attitude, SGT are so incredibly small they lack basic equipment (e.g. wheel alignment, ended up going to some dingy tyre depot in Maidenhead who then couldn't program the G's values in to their machine). I am thinking either of Guest's (based on the good things I have heard here), or back to Northgate Canterbury where I bought mine. Oxford does seem a black hole in the network, did they ever have a dealer here?

I think i'd quite like SGT, i do like how Fiat and Alfa have these small and old skool dealers in their network rather than shunning them for shiny massive showrooms, but i do understand the frustrations with lack of equipment. I'd imagine their general level of service was quite good, though? A friend who lives in Reading & who's owned 6 or more Fiat's & Lancia's went there to look at a MiTo even though Whitequay is closer.

We've never had an Alfa Dealer since i became interested in cars 12 years ago and i'm pretty sure we've never had one. There was a good 10 year gap where we only had a small service & parts Fiat dealer too (Mellors of Challow), which is in a small village near Wantage & not near other dealerships. Previously we have had several Fiat dealers (BMG Bicester & Halliwell Jones Oxford) but these closed and the staff from one now run Palmer & Philips which is an independant Italian Specialist just outside Oxford. This is where i took my 2nd Punto and now the Stilo for work.

I did query the lack of dealers with Fiat UK and a few years later they opened Hartwell Fiat in Abingdon, but it takes up a tiny space in Hartwell's big showroom (only 4 cars inside) and Hartwell's name is mud in our house (and many others i think) so i think they'd have been better off not bothering. Mellors of Challow (Fiat) were very attentive when i took my first Punto there (before discovering the specialist closer to home when i bought the Mk2 Punto) but many people would be put off by the lack of new showroom and pristine uniforms. Im also pretty sure they don't usually sell new Fiat's and probably can't do warranty work on Alfa's, which leaves us with no official Alfa or Abarth coverage and limited Fiat facilities.

A big Alfa & Abarth (and possibly Fiat) showroom on the land next to the Chrysler/Jeep dealer near Shipton on Cherwell would be perfect & makes good logistical sence given Chrysler-Jeep are now Fiat Group. I wait in hope, but i guess with our current economy it's unlikely.

yes SGT were charming for service, I slid my (then only 20 day old) Giulietta into a curb in the icy weather in Jan 11. I drove straight there in a blind panic imagining the horrendous damage I had probably done to the front suspension assembly (the car was crabbing badly). With only 20 mins notice I was able to get them to take my car in, check it over then tell me it was just tracking and I could go to the tyre depot and get it sorted. It was them who then couldn't do the job *sighs* Back on topic I might actually use them again for this b pillar issue I assume they don't contract that out!

Rattle is so bad again it's booked in on Friday, it's really matallic sound inside the pillar, oh and the window on the door again seem loose. Getting really really pee'ed off as I did 1000 miles last week and it's driving me insane to a point I wished someone would crash into me :(

Well it,s back. The metallic rattle has gone from inside the b pillar, the window is still creaking so a new door and window seal has been ordered. Oh and it was washed.
