Went in to Autoworld this afternoon to order some parts after nerfing the front and back of my ride at the weekend and they have got an offer on timing belts across the range.

I didn't have time to note them all but for an Alfa 147 1.6 the costs are:

Timing kit ( belt and tensioner) £77.94 incl VAT
Labour £146.88 incl VAT

The variator wasn't listed so this will be extra should you want that done as well, which is often advised on this site by many!

I'm not recommending them in any way, but it seemed a good deal as I seem to recall a figure up around the £400 being talked about so if this saves someone a few quid I will sleep easier tonight :D

Number is 01246 450450

I know them quite well as they're just round the corner from me in Chesterfield, will see if I can get the full price list for comparative purposes :D

Autoworld in Sheffield are doing the same offer. Prices seem good. But I'm not gonna let them near my alfa again. Don't trust 'em :tut:

Ditto! Walked out of there a few weeks back whilst trying to get the works Stilo serviced!

I have been quoted a total cost £595.00 inc VAT(water pump, camshaft variator, balance belt, camshaft belt, balance shaft tensioner+timing belt tensioner. I dont think that this is too bad, this is from the Shefield Autoworld

Mangoletsi in Cheshire want to charge £1087.86 for the exact same job !!

I told them about the quote I have recieved for the same job for £595 and they claim this would not even cover the parts if Genuine Alfa parts were used.

What do people think about this??

Price the job up here: www.shop4parts.co.uk They supply genuine parts cheaper than the dealers. Only some of the belts are no OE but still branded parts.

Your price of 595 is about the going rate. I paid about £300 for parts for our Spider.

Yeah I priced the parts up at Shop4Parts, works out at around 300ish, so 595 is right as far as I can see for the price.

I really think Mangoletsi in Cheshire should be avoided, if anyone in here uses them please let them know how cheep other Alfa main garages are for the same work.

Try getting a quote from Alfatech at Huddersfield - they are a trusted independent specialist.

I have decided to use Chesterfield Autoworld.

The offer they have on is £355 for cambelt and tensioners etc.... all fitted including vat everything.

They add on 110 for the variator and 99 for the waterpump

The entire price is only £564, my local independent Alfa Specialist wanted £700 !!!

Autoworld are also doing me an Oil and filter change for £70.

Does anyone know what type of oil they use?
They used to use Selenia but my experience was from about seven years ago
