The relaunch of Alfa Romeo the most important challenge for Tavares and Elkann
One of the biggest and most important challenges that the new Stellantis group, born from the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and PSA, intends to win concerns the Alfa car manufacturer. In fact, the CEO of Stellantis Carlos Tavares and the President of the automotive group John Elkann have set themselves as one of the main objectives for the new company, the relaunch of Alfa Romeo.

It is a challenge that both of them want to win. This is not only because they are both passionate about motorsport and deep admirers of the history and tradition of Alfa Romeo but also for reasons strictly related to the business. In fact, Tavares and Elkann know perfectly well what a brand like Alfa Romeo can be worth, which is still considered by all to be a premium brand, one of the few to boast such a history and tradition.

the relaunch of Alfa Romeo is not only a matter of principle for the top management of Stellantis but it is also a mere business matter. What is now important is to guarantee the brand an adequate range and above all not to improvise anymore but to provide the entire organization with real programming that gives certainties and precise times. In this regard, Imparato talked about programs at 5 years but also at 10 and 20, highlighting how in the modern automotive sector programming is certainly the main thing to make a brand grow adequately.

The choice of Imparato was therefore obvious, so much so that someone speculates that even before the negotiations between Fiat Chrysler and PSA had reached a good point, Tavares probably already had in mind to entrust Learnato with the relaunch of the Biscione. We will therefore see if Tavares and Elkann manage to win their bet in the coming years.

Just read an Autocar article. Tonales platform will be the only platform kept moving forward, all others will be PSA. Giulia/Stelvio will use PSA large platform (current 508), also to be used by Maserati for Ghibli/Levante, but will adapt many if not all of the innovative suspension engineering solutions from Giorgio, including steering, due 2023/24. New head of design will be Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, ex. of Dacia and Seat (Leon and the Arona, Ateca and Tarraco SUVs). Talk of a GTV, as a 4 series competing 4 door coupe. Also tentative confirmation that sales/servicing will be from dual dealerships offering Maserati and Alfa together. Tonale first, Brennero and Giulia replacement in 2023, Stelvio 2024, GTV and small Mito replacement 2025. Thats all folks.
