The extended warranty I brought with my car runs out today and for the first time in my GTA ownership I'm responsible for the things that go wrong! Its all very worrying but I think by Saturday I be hooning about again without a care.

What this also means is my little GTA is 5 years old today! Can't believe how quickly its come around as it was only just over 2 years old when I got it.

So that at least some of any big bill is covered I've brought the AA breakdown cover. Its only £50 or £60 and gives £500 towards any repair...even a new battery lol. I'm thinking I'm safe with new clutch, gearbox, diff (Q2), cambelt, water pump, radiator, wishbones, brakes and battery within the last 6k miles. I can't imagine there is much else to go wrong...

Well the positive thing is that I do very few miles so as and when problems come up they are ususally spread out. The service this month cost more than I expected but was still within the amount I had been setting aside. (I cunningly decided not to do my cambelt until just before my warranty finished lol)

no worries its quite interesting but also worrying. Guess that could be more down to workmanship though?

Silver this is strange my GTA was 5 years old on Saturday had this GTA since 6 months old however I decided to extend the alfa warranty for another year even though it might only get used at weekends and that's about it - I just want as much piece of mind as possible. My GTA was an exdemo in Leeds where was yours registered originally?

Whats the cover you have?

I'm right in thinking it breakdown cover @ approx. £60 per year and it covers £500 towards repairs?

Yep £500 on any one claim provided you call the AA out first. It's a drop in the ocean in the event of a cambelt or diff failure but I couldn't stomach paying several hundred out this time around.

The original warranty I had was pretty good value. I think it was £400 for two years and covered just about everything. Rather amusingly I had to claim for about £2500 within a week of the policy starting when the diff went so I got my moneys worth quickly

i dont think i would use another warranty, i let my last extended warranty run out cause when i did have a problem they took the car in, it went to 2 different garages, they decided they couldn't fix it and the warranty company made up some story that it was not covered an then tried giving me a huge bill,
i said no, collected my car told them basically to f off and fixed it myself in 2 days
me no trust warranty companies no more, they can always easily go back on their words
best advice take care of the GTA and dont skrimp on anything cause it will come back an bite u on the ar53
:)

i wont really worry about it, i have only had mine for 9 months and only spent just over £4k on it!!!!!!
Is the car in your avatar the one you own? I'm sure I've seen that for sale by an Alfa specialist (can't remember which) much less ago than 9 months..

Saw a selispeed at Autolusso the other week would have love to have a go. My only dislike was that it had a cloth interior!

We had three GTA Selespeeds there at the same time, there was a red 147 GTA and a silver Sportwagon GTA there as well
