I noticed at the weekend that the driver's side front arch liner had ripped from its mounting point. Looks to have been caused by stones because the pain has been chipped off the mount as well. I've seen this is a known issue but my cars out of warranty.

The replacement part is £205. Before I buy the most expensive piece of felt in existence does anyone know if these have been upgraded at all so they won't rip?

Is there an alternative option for replacing or covering it to protect it?

No they have not been updated at all.
I've used a large penny washer painted black behind the mounting clip

Maybe its an idea to stick those, or a shaped piece of black plastic, which I plan to do, on before the liner tears.

For sure. Pointless buying new liners as the same issue will happen in a matter of months. I used the washers as I had them lying around. Your solution sounds easier on the eye :)

I was wondering if we could get some plastic protectors 3D printed for this.. I have added some black plasic penny washers but that may not be enough

I've only had the car 3 days, but have already started fiddling. Annoyingly I didn't spot the damaged liner before I bought the car. The dealer is going to send me a replacement, but I didn't want the sill getting battered with mud and water so made a temporary fix until the replacement arrives.
I cut out a piece of plastic from an old paint tray in the profile of the sill. Put it behind the liner and plugged the liner into it with the plastic plug. Not pretty, but it plugs the gap and is solid.

What is it with Alfa and wheel arch liners? My 156 GTA eats them. And impossible to get hold of. I'd buy a load of Guilia ones for the future!

I went through a large puddle recently and I've also had both my felt front wheel arch liners pushed in. I am not prepared to pay £400+ for new ones so I'm going to try and repair with some plastic sheeting.

Is the felt there for sound damping?

Well I've investigated and done a partial repair. Not perfect by a long way but I'll keep an eye on it.

Drivers side wasn't too bad. I've put some plastic grille I had behind it for support and used a larger washer in front to hold it.

Passenger side was much worse. Totally pushed in. Same repair done though, support behind and large washer on the front.

I fitted a pair, almost identical to the 3D printed ones, on my Giulia a couple of years ago.
Cut them out of a plastic plant pot. :)
