The Car hasnt been getting anywhere near 90 on the temperature dial lately so I am guessing that the stat has given up the ghost.

ill be fitting the new one at the weekend.
iv heard people saying that its easier to access it if you take the battery tray out?

also once its all fitted, and the coolant is in, where are the bleeding points for the system to get rid of the air in the system?

I actually completed the job at the weekend. It wasn't too bad and as you said the clips were the worst type. I ended up snapping/cutting the clips off and putting new jubilee clips on instead. Also all I removed for the job was the engine cover and battery itself. Didn't need to remove the battery tray. There was a enough room

Cheers folks, a job over the Winter for me. I must remember to buy new clips first!
