Hi All

Its been 20 years since ive resprayed a car , The spraying is no problem but the paints im using. The kit i ordered is new to me being polyester.

I am starting with a polyester filler primer straight forward then a polyester base coat and then a 2k high gloss clear coat.#

What i want to know is can i flat back the base coat to get rid of any imperfections before i clear coat (if i get any) i really want to take my time and get it perfect before clear coat as im putting a small amount of flake in the first coat of clear so once done there is no turning back without a lot of hassle.

Any info would be great as searches keep coming up with information on polyester primers.

Thanks in advance

What was the answer, I am about to do some painting.
with polyester paint you have to clear straight away on the base coat , if you do have imperfections you need to recoat the base again before clear coat . but you can flatten the 2k clear coat to perfect it
