Ok so I got a cable for free from a friend of mine which used it for his Audi A4.
Sears helped me out with the correct KWP software so off I go to open my cable and bridge pins 1, 3 , 7 only to discover that only four of the pins are actually used on the cable

These are 15, 16 , 5, 7 from what I can see. Is this cable now useless to me ?

if there are spare pins solder 7 to 3 & then to 1, you should be sorted.

if you do not have pins use paperclips as pins, force them into the socket & solder them to 7

Hi there are 16 pins and total but only four connected. Hmm so I must just connect 1 and three to 7 (which is connected at present), will give it a go ! Ps what software do you use to convert the usb cable to a com port ?
