Hi all,

I have an Alfa 156sw facelift model. Recently the dreaded MCSF message has started popping up on the dash.

A diagnostic check on Alfadiag shows the following errror: P1235

Here is what I have tried so far:

* Cleaned EGR.
* Patched up the top turbo hose (had a good 2 inch split in the top one). Need to save up to replace both top and lower hoses.
* Replaced vaccuum pipe from turbo to Turbo Boost Valve.

However the car still displays the message and goes into limp mode.

Any ideas what could be next?

Well the VNT regulator regulates the turbo so if that works incorrectly you get an overboost error (that was the case with my car). MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor is also a possible culprit. It is situated near the EGR valve - on its left side. You can try cleaning it first since its likely it will be sooted up. Cleaning alone can improve things dramatically.

Okay, a quick update. I had another look around the engine and I found another small hose with a slight split in it near the bottom of the front engine bay. Replaced this and no more error light / warnings.

Great to have it back to how it should be!!!

Many thanks

D
