I know that ther are a few threads about this, but all seem to be slightly different. Last Thursday I drove from Bradford to Liverpool and all was good. On Friday morning I started the car ( 02 156 2.0JTS tourismo) and the Engine Control warning light came on, switched off and on restarting it was gone.
Then on Sunday it started staying on longer and flashing on and off and then staying on permanently, with the occassional and anoying beeping and flashing on and off continiously,before staying on again.
However the car drives great, no misses, starts first time, accelerates crisply, drives smoothly and idles fine ????????????

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Only way to know for sure is to get the code read. Guesses would be lambda sensors or misfire detection perhaps?

My guess is throttle control potentiometer error that leads to the connector block toward the back top of the engine bay. good strip down and clean will sort it out usually if this is the problem.

Penny to a pound it's a lambda sensor. It almost always is. Cheap and quick fix too

Get the fault codes read.
