Angel tuning 180bhp remap (JTD 16v)

Thought I would share some info regarding the remap since I have had a power run today and I know there are a few interested in actual figures.

I had done a before and after run when I first had the remap done 2 years ago but it wasn't as impressive as I had hoped, I wanted more as soon as it was done as it wasn't a big enough jump but the car felt alot better after just not as quick as I had hoped, I was spoilt by stories on VAG enginges, still the car was new and a bit tight, after I had done approx 10k or so there was a marked improvement in performance and I always meant to retest, 40k on and I finally got around to it  and basically it does what it say on the tin

177.3bhp @ 4495rpm, 265lbs @ 2690rpm, whats nice though is there is greater than 225lbs of torque from 1850-4100 and the peak torque is pretty flat from 2100-3100 making it a nice flexible motor and it feels pretty revvy for a diesel.

As mentioned done 40k so far and its not missed a beat, money well spent, made me a lot happier with the car after dropping down from a GTA and as it stands has done me well against many a more powerful motor at numerous trackdays.

Just thought I'd run one so I could have a starting point before I go down that murky modifying path with a bit more seriousness :)

Unfortunately I have no scanner so can't share teh data with you, run was done in fifth and I am running 18s, not sure it makes any difference, just thought I'd let you know, also as I understand it the mapping has been improved upon in the past 2yrs.

Nice result Sandys.:)
Any black smoke:confused:
Only towards the top of the rev range my car is not a great smoker just the odd wisp now and again, I use BP ultimate as it seems to get less smoke, on a dyno it looks quite smoky but thats because its in one place. It will be interesting to see how the 205 remap affects this tommorrow.

A friend of my has a 156 20v and it chucks out clouds now and agian and its stock  I guess its when the fuel gets shoved down before the turbo has fully spun up its going to do that as its bit rich.

It's a bit more complicated than that with a direct injection Diesel. In the area the fuel burns at low RPM it's running rich, but around that is more air where the fuel never gets. At higher RPM this sorts itself out, but if it happens on high RPM it's definitely running a bit rich

Blimey Sandy's thats one of the first GT we did! We have done 83 (4 since Saturday!) of them now and the maping has moved on considerably and from testing we know exactly what will happen now after high milage so we can tune for longevity as well as power and up it quite a lot more but safely! Shame we never got to re-remap your early one, but enjoy your new map.
Yup it was a long time ago, quite a few people are always asking about the map so thought i'd share the info in the new tuning section as I had some hard data, perhaps you should update your site with info about what you can achieve now as it only shows a 185 map at the mo nothing higher which is odd as you did mention about a better map probably a year ago but after I asked for info on it things went silent, I took lack of info on the site to be lack of progress.

The new mapping didn't as well as hoped with the other guys, they are going to have another go next week.

It was immediately available when we mentioned it, all you had to do was call us and book in, so sorry that never happend. We have moved on again since then, basically we develop continually as we do so many of these (and others) and are on version 6 now for standard cars with your software build (of which there are very few about as it was an early one it was updated by Alfa Romeo shortly after launch). I beleive there are 9 different software builds now on the GT's including the 3 on the JTDm - wish they would stick to one build per vehicle, wouldn't half keep our development costs down lol!

We never quote stupid power figures, as we know what is realistic for these cars as we have done so many and tested them over thousands of miles. Any fool tuner can scream the nuts off something and say wow look at this then wonder why there are so many threads on forums complaining about them, especially after the quoted output has been tested on a rolling road where the drive train losses are dialled in manually!
