Hi,

This has been done by lots of people, in the pipeline for myself.. I searched some threads for you. You don't have to lose the steering wheel controls if you use the following with your new stereo..

https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-connects2-ctsar002-2_p-36146.htm

You will need a new fascia as the alfa one is a funny size and does not fit double din surprise surprise.. so you will need this.... if your car doesn't have sat nav unit as OE

https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-connects2-ct23ar01a_p-33746.htm

or this if you do have sat nav as OE

https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-connects2-ct23ar10_p-33758.htm

the choice of head unit is up to you let me know what you go with as I plan to do this some time...

I found some other threads so you can check out what others have used..

As above, lots of us have done it (there is a thread and how to in the stickies), only think you will lose is the voice activation button on the steering wheel, all the others can still work

I've just purchased one from Navall.

It runs Android 7.1 has 2GB memory and 16GB NAND. 2 SD cards - one for SatNav (It comes with IGO but you can download any from the play store) and the other for Music (I'll have Spotify installed and run it offline so the music downloads to the SD card when it connects to the wireless at home on the drive).

Also has Bluetooth for A2DP and telephone calls. Comes with all the leads required and fits directly into the current slot - don't even have to remove the B&M stuff in the second half of the cage. You can use Navall's DVR for a dashcam too as it plugs directly into the HU. I've also got the DAB unit which I'm still waiting for delivery on. Supports Android Auto too as well as MirrorLink. I think it was about £370 inc the DAB.

Also includes Steering Wheel controls and you can actually re-assign the buttons if need be.

These are the Comet HU's - here is a link the the Audi TT one that I purchased for my wife but the spec is exactly the same:

https://navallstore.com/home/audi-head-units/navall-comet-audi-tt-android-7-2-1-head-unit

They are out of stock on the Alfa 159 units but I can supply an email address of the guys in the UK that places the order if anyone is interested (I'm not a reseller of these units)

Waiting to get my dash back after Hydrodipping before I fit it but had a quick test and it has improved the sound on stock speakers - much deeper base.

Delivery takes a while as imported form China but their support is UK based and if it needs to have any repairs, these are done in the UK too. Stock image on left and mine on right

Is the Navall the guy on the MG forum Radioguy as I had one in my TT years ago it was amazing but unfortunately lasted about 30 minutes, the seller on eBay ignored my emails and PayPal wouldn't reenburse me as I didn't pay via a credit card I hand the funds sat in my PayPal account I was furious.
I searched the net for a repairer but no joy but stumbled on radio guy on the MG forum he got it sorted for me he has been bringing them in from China for years.
My bad exsperiance with the headunit was a good five years ago and they have defiantly improved in this time and as you say support in UK so should be all good hopefully you won't need it

Hi Mr C

It is - Sean - great guy. The quality of these now is much better than they used to be. I also ordered my wife one for her 2009 TT and it has improved the sound no end also giving her SatNav and Spotify too.

I'm hoping too that I don't need to use them for any repairs - but UK based so not as much of an issue.

I spoke to a technician who told me the original parking sensors would stop working after a generic Chinese Android double din unit is installed... :hurt:

Has anyone been able to make the original parking sensors work together with a new generic double din head unit?

That's rubbish, mine are fine and as far as I know there's no correlation between the two items. FYI, my Android head unit is amazing for the money, I wouldn't hesitate to change it out.
