Does anyone know the Alpine Steering Wheel Interface model number that will allow Alpine headunits to talk to a 156?

They do all sorts for Fords, Vauxhalls and other assorted mundane transport, but I am yet to find one for my 2005 Alfa.

Ideally I'd like an official Alpine one, rather than a knocked up home effort with dodgy provenance. Unless someone knows a good one they'd recommend?

it's the same model/parts for the 147, 156, and GT. i have them for the GT:

KCE-870B : this is the actual interface that 'translates' alfa signals to alpine signals; plugs into the 3.5mm socket at the back of the headunit
KWE-897E : wiring adaptor harness; it plugs into the alfa (green mini-ISO) plug, then connects to the 870B interface

as such: alfa plug -> 897E -> 870B -> alpine headunit
so you need both parts.

Cheers, thanks for that. I have an IDX-100. I know it's supposed to have an inbuilt learning facility, but the perils of ebay mean that mine being an Asian model, doesn't offer that. It was less than half price of one from Halfords, though.

if the car has steering wheel controls, then it should have a green mini-ISO plug.

if not, what plugs do you have? show a photo if you are unsure.

the plugs should look similar to this (note: the green plug for the steering controls is the one between the yellow and blue plugs; not the GPS plug):

does your car actually have steering wheel controls? and were they working with the previous headunit?

if there are controls on your steering wheel, then there must be a green mini-ISO plug 'somewhere', so you need to search behind the dash because it must have fallen down at the back. :)
