Let's play our own version of the popular Radio 4 programme :D

Here are the rules:

"Guests are invited to imagine themselves as castaways on a desert island, and asked to
choose the eight pieces of music they would take with them; discussion of their choices
permits a review of their life. Aside from the music they select, they are also permitted to
take one book, excluding the Bible or other religious work and the complete works of
Shakespeare, which are deemed to be already present on the island (probably to force
castaways to make more original and interesting choices). They also choose one luxury item
which must be inanimate and of no survival value, though large supplies of champagne seem
to be allowed"

My discs would be:

1. Stevie Wonder ~ Songs in the key of life
2. Fleetwood Mac ~ Rumours
3. Beethoven ~ Symphony No. 9
4. Wagner ~ Der Ring des Nibelungen
5. Anita Baker ~ Rapture
6. Stevie Wonder ~ Innervisions
7. George Michael ~ Listen without prejudice
8. Vaughn Williams ~ The Sea Symphony

My book would be:

The Day of The Jackal ~ Frederick Forsythe

My luxury item would be:

My nail clippers

Ok, it's your go now

I was putting a lot of thought into this as its quite a tricky one.....for example it says in the rules the luxury item must be of no survival value whatsoever, whereas every one so far does have some survivial value.....tricky one to come with something that cant be used

you haven't seen the size of my pocket kite, would be useless as a signal or a makeshift sail !

Kiteworld Mini Kites

I call it my emergency kite as it's always in my car ... ready for emergency kiting situations just in case I don't have my main kite with me !

Well, after a bit of research cos I couldn't remember, apparantly Norman Mailer
asked for marijuana, Oliver Reed wanted a blow up woman and Princess Michael
of Kent wanted a cat. So, varied choices.

Very good thread Gibbo, although some people seem to have chosen whole albums instead of single pieces of music. :tut: you should get them told.

Here I Go again 87 - Whitesnake (live version)
Bang A Drum - Jon Bon Jovi
Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley
Canon - Pachelbiel

Eight pieces of music. Significant to my life they would have to be

1. Have I told you lately - Van Morrison
2. No Matter What - Meatloaf/Boyzone (depending on your age ;))
3. The Requiem Mass in D minor - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
4. Sweet Child O'Mine : Guns'n'Roses
5. Bat out of Hell : Meatloaf
6. Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve
7. Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol
8. I close my eyes - Dusty Springfield

My book would be Pride and Prejustice - Jane Austen which I have read and re-read countless times already.

And my luxury item would be my sketchbag (containing my paints, brushes and enough paper :))

Teenage Kicks - The Undertones
Lakme', Flower Duet - by anyone
Little Red Rooster - Howlin' Wolf
Jonny 'B' Goode - Chuck Berry

the book is the tuff one for me... there's a few books I never get tired of reading - 'One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest' - 'To Kill A Mocking Bird' - 'The Diceman'... but I think I'd go for 'The Book Thief' 'cos its blummin' fantastic and nearly made me cry when I finished reading it
