A little while ago I bougth myself an Alfa again. I've driven some other junk and came to the conclusion that Alfa is my brand!

I've bought myself a 159 SW ti (02-2012) with the 2.0 JTDm Diesel motor in it. It was 6 months old and had 3500 km on the dial.

Now, some time and km's later, I think it is time for a little bit more HP. My version has 136HP.
What is the problem?
Well, no-one can tell me exactly wich engine and gearbox is in my car. The Alfa Owner website states the following specs about the engine:
2.0 JTD CF5 - 136 HP
The type of gearbox (F40 or C635) is important to know the torque limit to wich I can tune my car.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Hi :hi:

Welcome to AO

Both gearboxes should be good for a substantial HP gain...

the F40 was fitted to the 2.4 which was 210bhp standard and others have mapped to a lot more with no issues. the C635 would also be able to take more, some of the other 2.0 170bhp were fitted with that and similarly people have taken them to over 200bhp

200 bhp is no problem. The main difference concerns the torque range.
F40: Up to 430Nm and more
C635: max 390Nm

This is a big difference. Should I decide to up the turbo in the future, again the F40 gearbox is more suted.

Can I get info concerning my gearbox true VIN-check?
