According to my Alfa Romeo Spider/GTV manual on CDROM, these models are unique because they have no radiator.
A search of the complete document for "radiator" or "coolant" reveals zero finds. The nearest I can find after an hour of browsing and searching is a page on the thermostat.
I've had a look inside the bonnet, and there is a large black thing at the front with rubber hoses going to it and lots of greenish fins disintegrating and falling off it, but it can't be a radiator as Alfa Romeo don't seem to fit them according to the manual.
I've been reading the threads in this forum all about short-lived Alfa radiators and their replacement, which is wonderful as without this forum we'd never have any information on them.
And I thought Haynes manuals were bad....

Wow, an air cooled engine, and there was me topping up what I thought was the coolant and it turns out it was just screen wash all along!!

Lucky for us ePer has the radiator or we really would be in trouble... In any case, rads tend to last a lifetime in this part of the world; never had to change one ever on 10+ year old cars.

That brings me to my other question. I've had many many cars over the years, including dodgy British Leyland heaps and never ever replaced a radiator. Sure everything else goes but rads have always been fairly relaible in my experience. They never fall apart.
So why is it that Alfa rads have such a short life?
Many forum members quote 3-4 yrs as usual, and mine is shedding fins faster than a dead fish whereas the rest of the car is in excellent condition.
Perhaps they're made of Italian ice-cream.

Mine lasted 7 years in the UK Midlands and was not desperate, but I replaced last year. Fairly easy job, except that I had to stop part way through for social engagement and stupidly closed the bonnet with the bonnet-pull unattached. Doh!
