Also anybody know where I can buy a 916 spider handbook?

Apparentl, just open the plastic footstep under the passenger's door and pull the cable. Removing the battery support will save 2kg and clean the place.

May be the battery just needs a recharge. Do you know if the car have been laid up for any length of time? Its not uncommon the battery collapses internally if not disconnected before been laid up.

It behind the drivers seat in the lockable cubby hole, if you can then charge it in the car, just remove Neg terminal, if not then getting out is a pain but drop the roof to make life easy, also watch the clamp as it has 2 big fuses on, dont damage them

Little bit of thread hi-jacking here. Is there any resetting processes required after reconnecting the battery?
