Hi all,

I;ve just purchased an alfa 156 2.4 JTD, with 73K miles. I have enquired about the cam belt change and a dealer said I should do it now if it hasn't been done already and quoted £300 for the job. Does anyone know of an alfa specialist in south yorkshire (Rotherham/Barnsley area) that they could recommend?

Thanks in advance,

Lee.

Dunno about diesels but on a twinnie that'd be a good price IF it includes the pretensioners.

I'm sure a more knowledgeable person will be along soon though, and there are a few regular diesel alfa runners in your area on here. If nobody contacts you give a shout to Jason_156 or Alfa20V

Peak Alfa has a good rep as far as I know. About 25 miles from Rotherham according to Multimap.

I've just travelled 35 miles for my 60K service. Well worth the journey if you can find someone with a good reputation.

However, as Ghosty says, £300 doesn't sound such a bad price.

Cheers for the help guys, peak alfa have quoted me £260 and the dealer has quoted £300. As the dealer is considerably closer to me and can also lend me a car whilst mines being sorted, I'm going with the dealer.

Thanks,

Lee.

My local Alfa approved place is 2 miles away. I could walk home if I needed to. The prices I was quoted for my last service were similar to those you mention. £300 at the dealer vs £250 at the independant Specialist.

However, inspite of the obvious convenience factor, I chose to use a recommended specialist 35m away because they were exactly that - recommended! The cost saving was an added bonus.

IMO, personal endorsement for these things is as important as cost, particularly given the notorious service given by some dealers/official service agents.
