I have my alfa romeo spider 1997 model stood for 3 months without battery in it because a was abroad. On arrival i put a battery in it, the key when off but the car will not start. She works fine before leaving it idea for that long. Anybody has idea what the problem is please?

Immobiliser's kicked in maybe? Or would that be too clever and Alfa electrics in general are to blame? Let us know when you find out..

Does it turn over without firing?

After a long period of inactivity, they do need fettling, have you cleaned the plugs, put in fresh petrol, checked to see that the fuel pump is priming? If it is turning over and not firing then it could be a immobiliser prob?

this happened with my 156. i was told to disconnect the battery for an hour then reconnect with the key well out of range then bring the key back . strange as it might seem it did work for me. good luck ,vernon

I am experiencing a starting problem as well on my 1997 Spider 916S
once it's starts, it drives well, when I turn it off, it won't start up again,
engine cranks, but won't fire up.

I'm getting a 'Code Key' in the dash.

what does that mean please

what is and where is the Immobilizer please?

Have you tried resetting the imobilizer ? Try manually locking and unlocking passenger door then drivers door. Then try to start again.
