It could be the mega resistor on top of the actual fan unit (behind and under the glove box).
It can overheat and fuse wires. Mainly shows as fan not working at all, but.....

I turned on the fan to clear the screen and now it wont turn off even when you turn off the ignition. had to unplug battery out in order to stop the fan.
Maybe Someone had this problem?
I just tried to take fuses near driver and it didn't help maybe i took wrong ones.

I had the same problem on my 156, it was the heater resistor that was blown. The fan would run full power no matter the setting, or even the ignition. The setup is probably similar on the 159.
