I've had 10 the shortest was an Alfasud Sprint for 3 months, bought it for £150 sold it for £100. The longest is my current 145 which I've had for 8 and a half years. For me one of the best value for time kept ratio I've ever had, I can't say how much I rate the car for what it is.
156 GTA and 147 over a year now for both
Last car before these was the GTV that I kept for 2 years
166 in between that I could only keep for 3 months due to lack of space/getting married
Another GTV that I kept for a year before I had to break it, sadly
156 for 3 years
156 before that for 5 years
I bought my first Alfa (gtv ts) in 2008 and I sold her about 6 months ago and bought another ts.
I bought a 156 2.5 v6 in 2012 and still have it..
I bought a 166 in 2013, bought another 166 last year..sold my first 166 and put the mods on the newer 166 and I still have it
I bought a 159 last year in April..used the funds from the sale of my first 166, to pay for all the my 159 mods, new rims, and timing and balance chain replacement and now is my daily driver..
I change the registration every 3 months of each car , so I change my daily driver like the seasons
I intend to get a guilia next..fingers crossed!!
156 V6 - About 2 months then I realised the floor was made of rust and pretty much gave it away to someone with the ability to restore it.
147 GTA - About 2 months in and loving it, although it may have to go as the other half refuses to drive it.
166 V6 face lift will be up next if the GTA does go. Seem hard to find in good condition though, may end up with another Saab.
Alfetta GTV - got it when I was 18 - so had it, er, nearly 30 years. Gulp!
156 V6 - bought it at 9 months old, had it 14 years.
159 2.4 - got that in about 2010 - 5 years
GT 3.2 - 2011 as a wreck - 4 years. Time for a cambelt change.
155 2.5 - 2013 for £700. Absurdly reliable all things considered.
156 V6 - children's project, 14 months
GTA SW - new project. 2 months
Longest one I've had is the 105 spider that I bought in the States in 92, still got it.
Had the only new car I ever bought, a 79 Sud, for about 7 years,
Got several other project cars - Sud, 155, 164, GTV, GTV6, Giulia Supers that I've had a good few years.
Daily runners tend to be kept for a few years then broken if they get too expensive to fix.....currently a 147 JTDm that I've had for about 3 years, and milady's 156 V6 that we've had about the same length of time.
My first alfa was a 1987 33ti, bought in 1998 and kept for a year. I never managed to sell it and it sat in my Nans garage for about 6 years before a neighbour asked if he could buy it as his golf had been written off. He was a mechanic by trade, and had worked for a Ferrari dealer, so with that in mind I agreed he could have it for nought if he got it back on the road. He got the car up and running and it was running perfectly, he was chuffed at that, but sadly it failed MOT as it had rotted so badly. It ended up being scrapped when my Nan died and we had to clear the house :frown:
Second was a 1991 75TS, bought in 2000. Again I kept this a year. It was a great car and sold onto someone no problem. It was replaced with a 1990 Lancia integrale 16v in 2001, which itself was sold on in 2003. Selling that was my biggest regret, and couple of years ago I saw the car at Brooklands Italian Car day. I will admit seeing that car again both made my day, and brought a tear to my eye. I hung around to see if the owner was about for some time, but no joy. Maybe this year in a week! So if the owner of G775 WKK sees this, let me know if you're going!!!
Third alfa is my 156GTA. Post the integrale I had a period of madness/sanity (depending on how you look at it) My job looked insecure so I went sensible and bought a new fiat punto. Two years in and I couldn't take it, the car itself was great, but nothing special after the 33,75 and integrale. I sold it to my sister for half what I had paid and bought the GTA in June 2005. It's now 2016 and having considered selling the GTA and going for something epically stupid like a maserati or jaguar V8. In the end, I semi-retired the GTA and bought an Abarth 595 Competizione.
