Just saw from Macgeek on the USA forum, the add-on box for online services.....

quote Macgeek:
Alfa Connect is a FCA product/service, currently available in Europe.

It's an additional box, manufactured by Magneti Marelli (which integrates a GSM module and a GPS antenna). It is mounted under the dashboard, on the passenger side, and is powered via a fuse tap on the Body Computer Module. It connects to the CAN network, to the door open signal wire, and, through a relay, to the ignition block wire.

just saw the price in The Netherlands is 350 Euro's. Don't know if that is including installation, but seems fairly easy to install.
Of course after 1 year you will need subscription service, don't know how much that will cost.... ;)
Still, probably cheaper then f.i. tracker, although not really stealth

Would have been nice if it also gave you a push message in case alarm goes off, bit of a missed opportunity ?
edit: looking at the faq there seem to be a number of alerts after all .... ;)
In addition, the car is able to detect any disconnection of the battery or tampering with the device. In this case the vehicle will send a message, but will not forward the notification to the Theft Assistance centre.

If the vehicle is equipped with a volumetric alarm, the car will send you a message when the alarm is triggered, but will not forward the alert to the Theft Assistance centre.

I got excited when it said ignition lock could be activated remotely in the case of theft.
Then I read "The starter motor disable function is not available for vehicles sold in the UK."
Great.

What would have been really useful was if this could be used to connect the sat nav to TomTom Live traffic services but there's no mention of it so guess not. Big missed opportunity.

I think that's a different system. Used by Chrysler, on Fiat and also in AR but as I understand it only on Mito & Giulietta.
I know, but it's the principle of the thing ;)

Not saying the same thing is possible with the giulia box, but fact is it's also connected to the CAN bus, and remotely accessible ;)
