I am rebuilding the rear suspension on my 916 GTV V6. The top wishbone/fork seems a very tight fit to me, and when I have tightened up the securing bolts, most of the vertical movement is coming through the rubber bush. Is this correct? If it is correct, is there a position the wishbone should be in, when tightening it up?

All suspension mountings should idealy be torqued up when the car is sat on its suspension. Alternatively jack up the stub axle to get the weight on the suspension (with the body supported as well). This then preloads the bushes in the correct position.

if you've used some sort of polybush on the wishbones they do seem to be quite tight upon refitting. As krisp says fit all the suspension up then apply load before tightening the bolts to the specified torque.
