Ok GTV wasn't changing gear well and clutch was very dodgy, got to point where clutch wouldn't engage and gears were not accesable, have just had a mechanic replace the gearbox AND clutch, relief i thought as he said it changes every gear, however this was with engine off.

any attept to change gear with engine running is pointless met with a whirr and nothing else.

needless to say, he is stumped, it has been bled and all oils and fluids are fine

any ideas or have i been givin a duff box?

The only thing I can think of is the maybe the cables are shagged or need adjusting and aren't up to the job. They'd probably give the impression that it was selecting gear when the engine is off ....but when it's running they can't exert enough force on the selectors ...............

have passed on that info thanks, have also been told to try slave and master cylinders could that be the problem?

ok now have car back!!! simply needed left overnight and then bled again!!
