Hi All,

New to the forum, and new to Alfa's!

Just bought a 2009 Alfa GT Cloverleaf Q2 JTDM - absolutely loving it!!

The only issue I have (well apart from the Cruise Control not working, just glad it's still under warranty!!) is that the floor mats that are fitted don't seem to have any poppers to fit onto (I say poppers as that is the best description for them, they aren't the normal type that you push over and twist to secure) Drivers and passengers side have the mats, but no lugs for them to fit onto. They look like genuine Alfa mats as they have a metal Alfa GT logo on them, but don't look like the ones you can currently buy from Alfaparts etc.

Anyone know where I could get these lugs, or Alfa my best bet?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to AO enjoy the ride.

Good choice of car.

I believe that you have the standard mats and they do not have the fixings.

You need to upgrade to the deluxe mats at around £75 to get the fixing clips

Hiya,

Thanks for the response, the mats in there do have fixings, but they are like coat poppers, and look like they should pop onto something that unfortunately is not there!

I'm heading to local Alfa dealer at the weekend so I'll ask them there, if not £75 mats here I come, blimmin things keep sliding under the pedals at the moment....

Cheers.

search on here for the cruise control problem - it's probably a little plastic pin under one of the pedals which just needs pulling out with long nosed pliers. A 30 second job and completely free, so it's nice to do, unlike most of the other problems...

I'll be interested to see what happens with the mats, as mine has non-standard ones which slide about, too.

you should have popper studs on the floor carpet. My 09 cloverleaf has them. When the mats slip under the pedal (as they do, they sometime come unattached) it can stop the clutch pedal going down which is quite frightening.
enjoy your cloverleaf. What colour have you got? (mine's red)

You've got mats with mounting holes, but you don't have the screw points to mount them to?
The official deep pile Alfa mats don't have mounting points for the passenger side, only the drivers side.

In the past when buying cheaper mats, some of them have come with the mounting points which can be carefully fixed into the carpet under the drivers seat so the mats could be attached. If it's the mounting points that you don't have then you should be able to buy them to attach into your carpet.
These, for example; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-OVAL...arParts_SM&hash=item53e8f38a2b#ht_1359wt_1139

The 'de luxe' mats at about £75 (search for current best price on eBay) are very good. I baulked at the price but after eventually paying up, I was glad I did. They do lift the interior a lot. Sadly I could only find them in sets of 4 - the rear 2 are a waste for me. Only the driver's mat is secured, by twisty grips into slots in the floor, but only the driver's mat needs to be.

Hiya,

I think these are Alfa Originals, will post up a pic so you guys can see - have bought some fixings off ebay that look like they may be the right type (audi/VW ones) worth a £2.50 punt as they are in quite good condition...

cheers for the responses, especially the tip about the cruise, will have a look to see if it's simple, if not it'll go to Alfa.

Well done on the cruise control fix. You'll find that all the little niggles on your Alfa will have been met by someone else on this forum already and it's quite likely there's a known cure. Even if you take it to the dealer to fix (and quite right too as it's under warranty), they may do the same fix.

I had the same problem on my GT. Original Deluxe mats came with the car (1 year old, second hand at the time) but there was no fasteners on the floor to fix them too. Tries some after market ones from ebay but they never lasted more than a few days before breaking.

Solution -
A roll of velcro. Apply one side to the car floor and the other side to the mat. Works like a charm and my mat hasn't moved in 6 months now, plus it's still removable if you need to take it out :p

I've got the deluxe mats in the Q2. The drivers did slip around a bit at first, I then found that the floor mounted "popper" part was actually fixed into the mat part (female fitting on the mat, male on the floor part). I unclipped it, then had to screw the "popper" into the carpet to get a fix.

Maybe yours are the same?
