A compression test won’t necessarily highlight an issue with worn oil control and oil scraper rings. If you have access to a compressor, get hold of a cylinder leakage tester and carry out a leakage test. You could do one run dry and a second run with a couple of squirts of engine oil onto the pistons and note your results. The oil should form a temporary seal and thus produce less leakage.

That might just be oil from the spark plug tube gaskets. Worn valve stem oil seals will give you excess smoke on start up. Idle and overrun conditions. Although because the multi air doesn’t have the same manifold depression as a conventional engine you may not see it at idle.

You might want to get something like this so you can see the lower part of the cylinders which might be causing your issue.

Years ago I used some bore sealer for a 205 1.9 gti with worn piston rings. You put it down the plug holes 1 at a time and drive about 30miles before doing the next cylinder. It worked a treat. Does anyone know if you can still buy it?

I can't see this being a great solution to the problem. It's an oil additive that thickens the oil to reduce blow-by. Might provide a temporary fix but you'll probably destroy the multiair unit which is very sensitive to having the correct oil.
Takes me back to the days when sawdust was a recommended solution to a noisy gearbox...
Yeah. I’ve never used it or know of anyone who has used it before. I was looking for the holts stuff when I came across it. I didn’t really look into it in any detail.

Just to clarify… You had high Oil consumption? You used a piston ring release.. The compression improves and they say it’s carbon build up on the valves but you don’t have a misfire? You did tell them about the oil consumption didn’t you?

Yes I did tell them about the oil consumption. As I said, the compression did go up and they also said that there is carbon build up on the valves. They don't want to strip the motor, they want to do the process over again after 2000km and only after the second process is done and the oil consumption is still present, then they will open the motor and do and assessment on the motor, but currently no damage rings or broken rings, pistons and sleeves still in good condition. They advice to run a will with liqui moly injection cleaner.
Can I ask, how much warranty do you have left on the car? The reason I ask is.. to this point they have carried out what could be a temporary repair and once the vehicle is out of warranty you might struggle to get them to revisit the repair free of charge. In the UK a repair done under warranty doesn’t (or didn’t if the rules changed in the last couple of years) carry a warranty for any period outside the vehicle warranty period. Although most manufacturers will carry out goodwill gestures. In short, it might be prudent to check that the warranty regarding your oil usage will be honoured after your vehicle warranty expires as your issue will already be logged. I hope that makes sense 🙄.

Good day.

Just an update on the G. I did a cylinder leakage test and find that air is leaking through spark plug well. All spark plugs threads are socking wet with oil. I ordered all gaskets and seals for the G. Will update soon.
If it’s leaking from the plug hole when you performed a cylinder leakage test is the O ring on the adaptor in good condition and was it tight?

Just a thought. Didn’t you do a wet compression test? If so the squirting of oil into the cylinder may explain the oil on the spark plug threads.

Good day. Update. Confirm that that my piston rings are shot. They leak 15%. The air is coming out of my dipstick. So now need to strip more off to inspect the cylinder bores and test if they are not oval. Will update as I go on.

Kind Regards
Where do you stand regarding your warranty?

Good day. I have an update and its not the best news. Cylinder 1 as I suspected is stuffed. A pice of the piston is broken. Please see attached photos View attachment 981885

Any recommendations except of change the motor... please I don't want to hear that

Kind regards
Kevin
If you have a local engine/engineering shop they should be able to line the bore or if it’s a wet liner fit a replacement and fit a new piston for you.

Need to go oversized about 0 10?
What will happen if I just hone the cylinder, install std size piston with rings?
Without using a bore comparator to check the bore you can’t say for sure. I would say it’s a 50/50. You might get away with it and get years trouble free motoring. Or you might not.
