Well I am happy that Ryan Power worked out well for you as it is good to see qualified Fiat people who actually know what they are doing as after being in the Alfa technical circle for so long and heard so many horror stories of expensive parts not fixing problems.... and for your older mechanic you cant beat the man who has years of experience...
You are right about the sweep. Good garage. Got my 156 back last night. Runing great no shudders and plenty of power. The fault was found after taking all the plugs out and leads. No new parts. It was water in one of the plugs so they dried it out. €150.00 or £127.85 We had very bad floods and they say that was the cause which I have to agree with them. She had been in another garage where I bought her from for the same thing which cost €93.64 or £79.81 The cost was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. So Ryan Motor Power at this point get 9 out of 10. But I will still go back to my 70 year old mechanic first.
Can't really fault Dennings then-not only are they a large and well renowned outfit, but they are also reasonable-just off the M50 at Tallaght/Templeogue.
You might also try Tony Byrne Crash Repairs in Ringsend.
And have a search on the Motors forum on Boards.ie the-question has been asked there loads of times.
thanks for this thread will call Gerry for my needs now.... not in Alastas that 1km away from me have bad experience aswell (asked me to pay 4hours service for just the belt done) the reason I bring my car there is to pay less in service coz I though they know exactly what to do to make it quicker.
Gerry in T.I. is back - he just serviced my car today. He has been looking after my Alfa needs since the early 80's (...ah those 'sud days!). Agree with all the positive comments above. He's the Alfa man in Dublin.
btw any feedback about John Linnane? Since Ambrose Glass is closed, I was thinking about taking the car there. I was also thinking about them, but a quick visit to the garage wasn't convincing...

OK I think its about time that we had a chat thread in the Irish Lounge :)
