it's possible, this is how i did it:

You have to lenghten the part that the red arrow points (blue line, distance)

Both the gear stick ant the gear lever has to be lenghten by the same amount.

Another picture (dont mind the welds)

Now the throw back and forward will be shorter, and ofcourse you can shorten the part that's in yellow, for the same amount that you lenghten the bottom part (or even more, so that the gear stick is lower)

Then you can do something more for beter shifting:

This is a very loose fit, and over the years it develops some wear and you feel that on the gear stick because it wobbles left/right.
I drilled half mm bigger hole and made new part to secure it together, it's a snug fit and the gear change is much more precise.

What's the progress on this? Any more results/failures?

I don't have a spare box to work on but very curious.

So 1st would be a click forward and then 2nd back and so on...

(reverse?)

This mod would really confuse my wifey!!

I remember doing this to my 33's some years back, I think it was just a matter of redrilling the hole where the gearbox input shaft lever meets the gear stick, down 15mm, effectively shortening the throw. Works very well.
