Dear fellow Alfa Owners,

After year of trouble free service, my 159 started leaking oil (not badly) since last night. As a precautionary measure, I took it to a Alfa specialist mechanic in Birmingham only to find out that the turbo is leaking as well as the inlet manifold is not working correctly (Have no technical knowledge about this). The car still starts, drives etc perfectly including the turbo. I was quoted around £1100 to get the manifold, turbo and service done all together. I am wondering is there a cheaper way of doing this? Where can I get a cheap turbo replacement (That will fit - e.g. Fiat Stilo 1.9jtd 150 sporting turbo etc.).

please help. Thanks in advance.

Just to add that I only noticed oil leak coming from the car and that is how I was concerned. Otherwise the car drives very nice/smooth.

inlet not working? You mean the swirl valves.
A new inlet manifold costs on ebay around 300 euro(pierburg model) and at the turbo may be a split hose or something else.1000 pounds is way to much to repair a leaky manifold and maybe a hose.

To swop the manifold over is 8.5 hours labour at the main dealers, it took me around 7 hours to swop mine as there are not really any short cuts. So just bear the labour costs in mind when you look at the quote you have been given, but you need to know what the other work required is.

The manifold is a none repairable item as there are no service kits available

Hi guys thanks for the help. ONe thing i am not sure is if these problems reported are genuine. Apart from the oil leak, there is no problem in the car. I live in Birmingham, if there is somebody here who can have a look, I will be really glad.

Thanks in advance.
