Hi everyone,

I am going to sell my 156 JTD MomoSport and will be buying a 159 JTDm .

On my 156 I've changed the original car radio (blaupunkt) with a brand new Alpine, with frontal CD changer, and a USB pen on the glove compartment to listen to my MP3.

Right now I wouldn't want to live again having to burn CD's or just listen to radio, so I am asking you guys, experts on this matter, what would be the best solution for me ?

- Buy a new 2 DIM head unit and fit it (I think I would loose the steering wheel commands, and probably would have to buy an adapter to fit the unit)

- Try to find a SatNav from Alfa Romeo compatible (do they play mp3?)

- Try a diferent solution like xcarlink or something like that

All opinions and advices are welcome.

Sorry about my English, but I am Portuguese, and my English it's a little bit rusty.

You could still retain steering stalk controls with correct adaptor. In fact i currently have one for sale which will work with most aftermarket head units. i would go for a double din nav unit form like of pioneer sony or kenwood. Sould set you back about £700. These will give full control over ipod/ iphone and will also play mp3 off pen drive or memory card. you will need a double din fitting kit as well. These retail about £40. You would also get bluetooth with new head unit.

What features do you actually want?
USB
CD changer
sat nav
BlueTooth?

You should buy a 159 that has Blue&Me, and preferably a 10-disc CD changer in the boot. B&M provides USB (maybe not early models) and BT with voice control.

The main feature I am looking for, is keeping the steering wheel functions, and have MP3 reading capability, I would prefer this to be done by USB PEN on the glove compartment.

SatNav is not important to me, since I have a Dual Core Android phone which is awesome for navigation, CD Changer I really don't like, I had it on my 156 and changed to frontal CD, Bluetooth would be nice, but not a priority.

That should be easy, presuming your budget is ok.

Most mid-/high-spec headunits have a steering wheel control socket at the back; check the specifications. But Alpine, Pioneer, Clarion, etc, are like this.

Then, you need an interface like the Connects2 CTSAR002, and a patch lead that joins the interface to the socket on the new headunit (eg: CTALPINELEAD patch lead for an Alpine headunit).

Check the websites for each brand: Alpine, Pioneer, etc. It will be easy to find one that has a steering socket and USB.

Then, add a dashkit. There are 2-DIN and 1-DIN versions available.

:)
