Hello Everyone!

This is my very first post and I hope I fit in in the correct area. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

A friend of a fried has a 159 2.4JTDM for sale. It has 98k miles on the clock. Cambelt and waterpump were replaced. My question is what possible faults could I expect?

Thank you in advance for answers.

Well, at that milage, pretty much the same as any other car....its high-ish, so all the things that would normally be specific to this car will be either fixed or should have been or have gone so long that are no longer a problem. The main bits have been done, as you have said, as they are big and expensive to do. But the rest is the same as any other car really.....I would check suspension knocking, can be quite common. Usually ball joints or suspension bush wear. Engine might have EGR and DFP proplems or not be completely "fresh" which may effect the smoothness of the engine....but other than that, should be relatively fault free. Check electronics and all that work and away you go.....enjoy!

I bought my brera with 80k miles on the clock and it was fine. You've had the belt and water pump changed, may find the gearbox a little bit notchy (but depends on how the miles have been put down). A gearbox treatment will solve this. DPF/EGR issues may be a problem, but then again you can always remove the DPF, have the EGR closed and remap the engine like i have :D

I bought mine only 10 days ago with 82k on the clock and it has had a look over by the local fiat / alfa specialists while the cambelt was being done.

They said the only thing they found was the rear passenger side break was dirty and sticking a bit and will need cleaning when the next service is done in a few months.

Thank you Guys for answers. As I was at work I forgot to add that the lad is asking 4k8 and the car is 06 reg. It is suppose to be a tourismo version, however it doesn't have a Ti badge etc...

Is it the one won autotrader ? Black with cream
Decent value and looks like a lusso not turismo. The TI is only on later cars.
I thought leather was lusso only and cream with black looks ok. Cheapest 2.4 in on autotrader so I think it's not bad value.
A lower mileage 2.4 will cost 6-7 k

Sorry for late answer but I've been busy lately. The belt was done @88k or something like that. The guy showed the paperwork but now I forgot, frankly speaking. It makes a squeaky noise especially when wheels are turned, no matter left or right. It can be heard from time to time on straight slightly bumpy roads. I'm mostly concern it had some (paint?)work to the rear, as 159 is actually 156... It was suppose to be scratches removal.. It had a mirror replaced as well (I was shown a document) - I didn't ask, the lad showed it to me... I presume he's honest/trustworthy. Tyres are worn so that they require replacing. Any suggestions about costs of all? What about (paint?)work to the rear? Cheers!
