year of car?

try disconnecting the air flow meter, located between the battery & the engine.

if its cable accelerator is the cable connected on the throttle body?

if fly by wire, is that connector on the throttle body?

any error lights on beside the No:8 of the rev counter?

any error codes read from ecu?

But was it the right one? And was it new?

MAF doesn't always show codes unless it's really dead.
