Hello again Alfisti,

This time it's my exhaust :( The outer box is rotten and I'm thinking of treating my Bella to a stainless system when it goes pop. I really like the idea of a duplex system because they look great, but I really don't like the idea of cutting away my bumper (facelift, one exit). If I could find a tasteful bumper heatshield to fit over both exits and make the bumper symmetrical I would be much happier to modify the bodywork and spend my pennies.

Also, what is the difference between duplex exhausts which have two pipes/exits from one muffler and ones which have one exit on the muffler and one pipe/exit leading across the bottom of the car?

I don't want a loud system, just an efficient one which is subtle enough not to bother my neighbours and sporty/mpg/throttle response enough to warrant the price. I'm guessing that a vortex thingy is a bad idea then... What happened to Aero exhaust? They seemed to do what vortex do without sounding like Darth Vader with his winky trapped in the door? Presumably it's possible to de-chav-tune the vortex to be quieter also?

Ultimately, unless there is a reasonably packaged solution to my duplex dreams, I might buy a single stainless through system. Are there any advantages to a duplex? Would it be quieter at low revs?

Regards
Nick

jtds are different beast but as a general rule I would say get an exhaust designed for the car, not a handbuilt things that will fit - they don't give same performance results.

never seen the interest in a duplex exhaust, never really seen one that worked properly, always ended up with loads of smoke coming out one and nother from another.

get a nice single.

I had a cybox exhaust for my 1.8 pre-facelift and it was good! dunno if they make something tht will fit facelift.
