Ive a 2001 alfa 156 2.4jtd and have someone willing to swap a t5 turbo estate volvo 850 for my car but I need to have a towbar on it. Can one be added to mine and are they expensive?
I wouldn't use the word easy, but if you take your time there not to bad.
There are quite a few holes to drill and the big lump of mastic on the left of the boot floor/spare wheel has to come off.
I fit towbars for a living and they take me about 2 - 3 hours, including the wiring, so if its your first time doing anything like this i'd allow at least 4 hours.
I was looking on ebay last week for a towbar for my GT and saw a second hand one for a 156 for sale.
Came with all of the wiring, fittings etc. Would be a cheaper option.
Took me a day to fit my towbar to my wagon. I got a towequipe one with detachable ball. Take your time and it is pretty straight forward TBH. The TE one cost me £300
