Hello everyone i have an alfa 156 2.0 litre t spark 2000 plate.
I am told today that the air conditioning compressor has gone .
I was wondering if there is anyway i can bypass the compressor with a belt to attach to the water pump alternator etc?

In other words is there anyway i can run the car withhout the air conditioning

Thanks very much

you will be ok running the car unless the compressor is seized. if it is seized you might be able to remove the compressor and buy a belt for a car without AC.

No reason why not.

With the belt in place, use string to find the length of belt you need bypassing the A/C pump. Go to Halfords with your bit of string and find one the right length. Buy it, put it on, job done. You may as well ditch the compressor, pipework etc to save weight.

You should be able to fit a belt from any TS engined car that hasn't got aircon - 145/146/155/ some GTVs...........can't remember but you may have to remove one of the tensioners.

But if the aircon pump has simply packed up, rather than seized, you can leave it as it is.....
