I am rebuilding my 1998 Model 2 litter Twin spark,Inspected the cam shaft variator, but can put it back , Can anyone tell me which marks goes where? there are 3 different size holes on the gears,Is there any part to replace? My car has 150000 on the clock

Haven’t done that for a while but if I remember correctly just align the marks.
You can ad a washer to make sure that the spring still tensions properly since that and a Teflon washer normally cures the annoying diesel sound.
At a stage you could get rebuild kits for them do not know if it’s available anymore. But if it’s too old a rebuild kit will not save it.
In short some were perfect after a rebuild while others was less noisy than before.
So although it is or was a cheaper alternative it wasn’t reliable enough to use on anything but your own car. (will not break but might still be noisy)
